We are always eager for people to learn more about who we are and what we do. So, each year during our sugarbeet slicing campaign, we offer public tours of our Bay City facility. We are excited to show you more about Michigan Sugar Company, our growers and our factory operations.

Michigan Sugar Company’s Bay City factory was built in 1901 and was originally named the German-American Sugar Company. Quite a bit has changed since then and we welcome you inside to see our operation today.

Each tour is approximately one hour, and is limited to 10 people at a time.  The tour includes some stairs and about 1 mile of walking. Tour participants must be at least 18 years of age, sign a liability waiver and release, follow all rules and instructions provided by tour guides, and follow these tour dress guidelines:

  • Participants must wear sturdy footwear that covers the entire foot. No open-toed shoes, clogs or high heels.
  • Participants must wear appropriate clothing. No shorts, skirts or sleeveless shirts are allowed.
  • For your safety, photography is allowed only in areas designated by your tour guide.
